Born and raised in Eastern Cape, South Africa, my academic background begun at University of Zululand where I completed my BSc. Honours degree. I pursued a research-based MSc in Biochemistry at the University of Johannesburg and worked on a bioinformatics and protein biochemistry project with the title “ Biophysical and in silico characterization of a putative interaction between Schistosoma mansoni heat shock protein 60 and novel Epolactaene-derived inhibitors” with the “ Molecular Biophysics and Structural Biology Group “ under the supervision of Prof. A.P Kappo. This sparked a great towards computational biology and bioinformatics which led to the decision to pursue my PhD studies in a project that incorporates computational and machine-learning bioinformatics tools through the vast and growing field of computational metabolomics. Currently, I am embarking on a PhD.
